Praise for Windsor Band

As appeared in The Windsor Star
On May 23, members of the United States Soldiers’ and Airmen’s Home were given an outstanding concert by the Windsor Community Concert Band (today known as Music Express) under the direction of Ernie Gerenda. The home, located in Washington, D.C., is a 2,000-member facility serving retired enlisted personnel from the U.S. Army and Air Force.
From their opening numbers of military marches to the finales of our two national anthems, our membership was in awe at the band’s superior talent and professionalism. The organization’s master of ceremonies and the singers added very much to the success of the program.
In separate correspondence we have expressed our appreciation to Gerenda and the band, but I felt additionally moved to publicly thank this exciting group of musicians who took the time, money, and energy to travel and present such a fine concert for our membership.
The City of Windsor should feel very proud to have such a talented group of musicians representing their community and country. I hope the citizenry of your area recognize their talent and whole-heartedly support their efforts.
